A Surprise Passion

Paul and I met in 2005 and were married pretty much right away. He was in the US Navy and spent most of the first year of our marriage deployed to a war zone. It was never planned but he was individually augmented so we didn't have much of a choice. I wanted a companion so bad and it wasn't long after his time was up with the Navy that we found Staffords! We got our first Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Onyx, in 2007. She is still, to this day....the best girl ever! We didn't know at that time that she would lay the foundation for the very passion that drives us!

Showing was never part of the plan but the breeder of Onyx encouraged us to come to shows. She was a silly looking naughty little puppy and we thought we would humor ourselves and take her a show. We never thought she would ever become a show Champion....until she did! It turns out she was a very fine example of the breed even during that awkward puppy stage! We started her off when she was just 6 months old, she finished in just a few weekends and we have been hooked ever since! Soon our lives just became all things dog. We have competed on many platforms across AKC. From winning the National Specialty in 2018 under esteemed UK Staffordshire Bull Terrier breed specialist and honorable judge Paul Stanway to competing at the National Dog Show, Westminster Kennel Club and many many more! 

Though we love to show and breed dogs, it is just a hobby for us. Our true passion lies within the dogs themselves. Getting to know them individually, watching them think and contemplate, learning what makes them so different one from another, those crazy tails wags when you get in from a long day at work. They are such incredible dogs, they have this uncanny ability to lay on the sofa with you and be couch potatoes or to get up and hike miles and miles with you. They engage so intensely with their humans and truly only desire to do whatever their person is doing. We enjoy hiking and biking with the dogs. Also swimming, some of them really love to swim! I think it is also important to note that our dogs are our family first and never our workers! So, welcome to our home on the web.
